Pedagogical practice

The pedagogical practice of the students of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Geography is an integral part of the educational process and occupies one of the central places in the professional training of teachers of general secondary education. It provides the implementation of theoretical training for higher education applicants in practical activities, which contributes to the professional formation of the future specialist, reveals his professional abilities.
The purpose of pedagogical practice is mastering the students of higher education by modern methods and forms of organization of educational process in the field of their profession, formation of future teachers of biology, geography and chemistry of professional competences, education of the need for systematic self-education and creative application of knowledge in practical activity.

Pedagogical practice directly gives an opportunity to be convinced of the correctness of the chosen sphere of activity, to determine the degree of conformity of personal qualities necessary for the profession of teacher.

The main tasks of teaching practice:
– deepening and consolidation of theoretical knowledge of higher education applicants;
– formation and consolidation of basic vocational and pedagogical competences, experience in accordance with the requirements of the Branch standards of higher pedagogical education and educational and qualification characteristics of the specialist;
– development of future teachers of pedagogical consciousness and professionally important personality traits.
The main conditions for the effectiveness of the pedagogical practice are its psychological and pedagogical orientation, theoretical substantiation, educational and educational character, systematic, comprehensive approach to the content and organization.

Educational activities of higher education applicants in practice are divided into several stages:
– preparatory: Higher education applicant must:
take part in university preparatory meetings and receive referrals to general secondary education institutions;
receive assignments for the duration of the internship and a list of documents included in the reporting documents;
– the main stage during which the applicant for higher education should actively become involved in the work as a teacher, class teacher, assume all the duties of the specified specialists;
– final stage:
summarizing the pedagogical practice;
preparation of reporting documents;
proper protection of practice.


Practice bases are institutions of general secondary education of the city of Uman and settlements at the place of residence and employment of higher education applicants, out-of-school establishments, summer health camps.
During the internship period, our faculty’s higher education students show a high level of factual possession, conduct various types of lessons and extracurricular activities, and prepare for full-time work in general secondary education institutions.
