   Short historical reference section of the subdepartment

The subdepartment as a separate subdivision of Natural Sciences department of Uman training teachers institute was established in first past-war years.
From the time of the foundation and right up to its closure (in 1950), the subdepartment had been headed by M.A. Oliynyk.

The need of reestablishment of a geography-oriented subdepartment, which was done in September, 1993, had been arisen in 1990 after recruitment of students for the major subject ‘Geography’.

The newly founded subdepartment was headed by Kazydub Grigoriy Oleksiyovich. Throughout the entire time of its existence, the staffs of the subdepartment and its name were changing.

In June 1st, 2012 the subdepartment of Geography teaching techniques has been reorganized giving birth to a new subdepartment of UDPU – Earth science and Geology subdepartment headed by Professor Polovka Sergiy Grygorovych, Ph.D. in Geology.

– Earth science research and the history of its development;
– Water natural-anthropogenic landscapes of Ukraine;
– Geographical databank.
